All Signal. Zero Noise.

THE SIGNAL

Friday was a broad flush with two exceptions. SPY $763.25 (-1.11%), QQQ $709.80 (-2.50%) and IWM $270.44 (-1.69%) all closed lower, with the Nasdaq proxy taking the worst of it. Nearly every sector in our universe finished red. The only groups that finished green were oil and gas and the defense primes: XLE $68.24 (+2.52%) and NOC $519.86 (+4.05%).

The tell: Thursday’s winners were Friday’s casualties. Quantum, small-cap healthcare, drones and space all ripped in the last issue. All of them reversed, and the quantum and biotech leaders gave back more than their Thursday gains. MU, which closed near its highs a session earlier, finished MU $878.84 (-5.63%) on 30.5 million shares. NVDA $214.13 (-1.43%) printed 121.3 million shares, the heaviest tape on the board. This was not rotation inside risk. It was an exit from it.

Weekend reporting ties the pressure to rising inflation and geopolitical tension, with investors favoring blue chips over tech. We take that as context, not cause. What the tape shows is simple: the crowded, speculative trades were sold together, and the money that stayed went to energy and defense.

TODAY’S TOP CALLS

RXRX $3.47 (-16.71%) — The worst name in our universe, on 40.7 million shares. We found no company news in the feed, so this is a price-and-volume unwind of the prior session’s squeeze, and it shows how quickly a thin-conviction bid can leave.

IONQ $31.28 (-8.94%) — The quantum leader erased Thursday’s rally. Per reporting, the coverage around the group keeps returning to cash burn, share dilution and the cost of acquisitions, and a bid that depends on the story rather than the numbers has little to stand on.

NOC $519.86 (+4.05%) — The best performer in the universe, with LMT and RTX bid alongside it. In a session where almost everything else fell, the primes were where the money went.

ON THE WATCHLIST
