All Signal. Zero Noise.
THE SIGNAL
Tuesday was the bounce the AI buildout had not managed in a week, and it came from the builders, not the index. SPY $754.35 (+0.30%) barely moved and QQQ $685.28 (+0.62%) did only a little better. Underneath, the grid and power names ran: GEV $918.20 (+6.49%), PWR $657.00 (+5.77%) and VRT $235.97 (+5.23%) led the tape, and PWR closed at the top of its range.
The single most important tell is what paid for it. Oil fell for a second day and the miners reversed: XLE $66.68 (-0.85%) on 30.9 million shares, with XOM $177.46 (-1.23%) and FCX $61.77 (-1.91%) lower. The money that ran to crude on Friday and to gold on Monday is rotating back into the AI buildout, and it moved before the results that matter most this week.
The biggest of them arrived after the close. AMD $483.90 (+3.65%) rose into its report, and per reporting it beat estimates and raised its growth outlook. Palantir reported a beat too, per reporting, yet PLTR $175.40 (-1.65%) slid to a low of $165.25 before recovering most of it. Strong numbers are not enough on their own; the market is choosing which AI companies it believes.
TODAY’S TOP CALLS
GEV $918.20 (+6.49%) — the biggest mover in the universe, and the clearest sign that the selling in the buildout trade has paused, for now.
AMD $483.90 (+3.65%) — it rose before the report; today's trade answers whether the beat was already in the price.
XLE $66.68 (-0.85%) — oil kept handing back its bid, which tells us last week's strength was a crude trade, not a durable rotation.
ON THE WATCHLIST
AMD, GEV, PWR, VRT, NVDA, AVGO, PLTR, XOM, FCX, IONQ, RKLB
