THE SIGNAL

Thursday’s tape had a split personality. The speculative corners of the market that carried 2026’s momentum trade — quantum computing and direct-to-consumer healthcare — took real damage, while old-line energy quietly logged some of its best breadth of the month. D-Wave Quantum (QBTS) shed 9.3% after a Wedbush-fueled pop earlier this week gave back everything and then some, and Hims & Hers (HIMS) fell 6.3% as a law firm opened a securities-fraud investigation tied to an FTC privacy complaint.

Meanwhile Occidental (+4.1%), Exxon (+2.1%), Chevron (+1.5%), and the XLE (+1.5%) all closed green in unison — the kind of sector-wide, low-drama move that doesn’t make headlines but tends to matter more than any single stock’s swing.

The tell: capital didn’t leave the market Thursday, it rotated. Cash-generative energy caught a bid on the same day two of the most narrative-driven corners of the tape — quantum and telehealth — got repriced for real-world risk. That’s a market discriminating, not panicking.

TODAY’S TOP CALLS

QBTS $19.41 (-9.28%) — D-Wave gave back its entire Wedbush-coverage pop from earlier this week in a single session, a reminder of how thin the float-driven gains in quantum names really are.

HIMS $29.66 (-6.29%) — A newly opened securities-fraud investigation, layered on top of an existing FTC privacy complaint, is now a real overhang on the stock, not just headline noise.

JOBY $8.23 (+5.51%) — Strongest quarter yet on FAA type-certification progress sent the eVTOL name higher into a sector that’s otherwise been starved for good news.
