THE SIGNAL

Tuesday’s tape wasn’t a garden-variety risk-off day — it was a valuation filter, and it showed up inside sectors, not just across them. In three of our ten groups, the highest-multiple name finished red while more defensible names in the same group finished green, some by 8+ points: Quantum Computing (IBM +1.67% vs. IonQ, D-Wave and Rigetti each down more than 5%) and Defense & AI (Lockheed, Northrop and RTX all up more than 1.7% while Palantir slipped).

The clearest single-name evidence is Micron, down 7.02% — the worst print in our AI sector — the same week Q2 2026 13F filings showed Stanley Druckenmiller’s Duquesne Family Office exiting Micron entirely and David Tepper’s Appaloosa cutting its stake 41%, even as both rotated proceeds into other AI infrastructure names. That’s not “the AI trade is dead.” That’s “we’re getting pickier about which AI trade.”

Oil & gas was the one full-sector exception — XLE, CVX, XOM and OXY all green, Exxon leading at +2.54%. Combined with gold miners posting their worst day of the stretch, the tape reads less like fear and more like a rebalancing.

TODAY’S TOP CALLS

GOLD $41.84 (-7.82%) — Barrick posted the worst move of all 41 names we track, with no company-specific news attached to it.

MU $940.76 (-7.02%) — Micron led the AI/semi complex lower the same week two marquee funds disclosed trimming or exiting their positions.

NOC $589.14 (+3.32%) — Northrop topped the board’s gainers as legacy defense primes caught a bid while richer-multiple Palantir slipped.
