THE SIGNAL

Quantum computing sold off as a basket on Friday, and the trigger wasn’t earnings or a contract loss — it was a competitor going public. IQM Quantum Computers’ Nasdaq listing reframed the sector’s competitive picture, and D-Wave (QBTS -5.06%) and Rigetti (RGTI -2.65%) got marked down on it even though neither has direct product overlap with IQM’s approach disclosed yet. IonQ fell right alongside them, down 4.27%, despite outside commentary this week specifically distinguishing it from peers on the strength of its revenue growth. When a crowded, thematic trade gets a new entrant, the market prices the whole group first and sorts out who’s actually exposed later — the same pattern that hit AeroVironment’s defense-adjacent peers on Thursday.

Speaking of AeroVironment: the litigation overhang didn’t fade, it compounded. Two more law firms — Robbins Geller on Friday, Rosen on Sunday — issued investor-alert announcements ahead of a July 27 lead-plaintiff deadline, and the stock fell another 2.57% on top of Thursday’s 5.94% drop. This is no longer a one-day headline; it’s a multi-week legal process with a hard date attached.

Elsewhere, Thursday’s unified memory-and-chip rally split into something more selective. Nvidia extended higher, up 4.03%, while Micron gave back 1.24% of Thursday’s SK Hynix-driven surge. Same sector, opposite direction — worth watching whether that’s healthy rotation or the first crack in last week’s enthusiasm.

TODAY’S TOP CALLS

QBTS $20.09 (-5.06%) — D-Wave led quantum computing lower after IQM’s Nasdaq debut reframed the sector’s competitive landscape, even without a disclosed direct overlap in approach or customers.

AVAV $144.58 (-2.57%) — A second and third law firm piled onto the securities-fraud case tied to the Space Force’s SCAR contract cancellation, with a July 27 lead-plaintiff deadline now locking in a multi-week legal timeline.

NVDA $210.96 (+4.03%) — Nvidia extended gains while Micron slipped, splitting Thursday’s broad memory-and-chip rally into a more selective trade.
