THE SIGNAL
Archer Aviation ripped 8.47% to $6.79 on volume north of 90 million shares, reversing a chunk of a rough stretch that had the stock trading under $5 last week and down more than 30% over the past twelve months on FAA certification delays and cash-burn concerns. Sector-mate Joby Aviation went the other way, falling 4.43% to $8.42 — despite recently posting its strongest quarter yet on FAA type-certification progress. When the more-troubled name outruns the fundamentally stronger one on a single session, that’s usually short covering and oversold mean reversion, not a re-rating of the story. ACHR’s own intraday range — a $6.13 low to a $7.08 high — points to volatility, not a clean breakout.
Elsewhere, the tape was more constructive. Vertiv extended its bounce off a brutal July (the stock had plunged nearly 28% last month amid broader AI-infrastructure jitters), closing up 4.34% at $281.81 on fresh commentary framing it as a pure-play AI-infrastructure winner. Constellation, GE Vernova, and uranium-linked names were all firmly bid too. That’s the more durable read: capital rotating into power and infrastructure names with real growth behind them, not fleeing broadly.
On the other side of the ledger, Hims & Hers kept sliding — down 3.97% to $30.51 — as law firms continue circling the FTC’s late-July lawsuit alleging deceptive data-sharing practices. That overhang is now a multi-week drag on the name.
TODAY’S TOP CALLS
ACHR $6.79 (+8.47%) — Heavy-volume reversal in a beaten-down eVTOL name; the standout mover of the day, and worth watching for whether it holds or fades back.
VRT $281.81 (+4.34%) — AI-infrastructure bellwether extending its bounce off a brutal July, on fresh bull commentary versus peers.
HIMS $30.51 (-3.97%) — Legal overhang deepens as law firms circle the FTC privacy lawsuit; the slide is now a multi-week pattern, not a one-day move.
